Recruitment
Would you like to represent the United Kingdom on an international scale? Well, this may be a Youth Summit, but it's certainly your chance to get your first foot on the ladder. Or should that be the greasy pole?
The roles of Prime Minister and Sherpa have already been filled, as they are roles that require a degree of experience. Applicants therefore will be competing for one of the six ministerial positions available. We do not yet know what ministerial committees will be held next year, but successful applicants will be assigned a role that best fits their talents later on.
The application process is now open, and we will be accepting forms all the way through until Friday November 21st. There's no specific rush, as all applications will be dealt with equally, but we do advise that you get a form into us as soon as you can. Before you do that, however, it might make sense to read the following points.
At the moment, the Summit is scheduled for 15th – 22nd March.
APPLICATION PROCESS
The process is relatively straightforward. Firstly, you need to download an application form by clicking here. Once you’ve done that, simply fill it out and send it back to tim@modelg8.com. The deadline for this is Friday 21st November at 7pm.
The organising committee will then shortlist the applications down to 15 people, whose forms will then be sent to a selection panel to adjudicate. To see who's on the panel, click here. Once all the votes are in, the top six candidates will be selected and informed immediately. They will then form part of the organising team, and will help the current Committee prepare for the 2009 Summit.
COSTS
Much like the ministerial positions, we do not yet know the exact costs. However, given the last two Summits, it is estimated that a participation fee of approximately £400 will be levied. Delegates will also be required to pay for their own flights.
Whilst this may seem steep at the moment, the MG8UK Central Organising Committee is working on gathering sponsorship, and will also be running a number of fundraisers in order to raise funds. If selected, you will be expected to help with that process, but will also receive an equal cut of any money raised.
It should be noted that whilst we are working hard on raising money, we cannot give any absolute guarantees. Therefore, you must be responsible for raising your own funds if necessary.
ELIGIBILITY
